Project objectives
The major objective is to utilize various types of research training and research infrastructure improvement to upgrade the research competence that will provide MEDRI with additional resources and enable it to successfully integrate into ERA. We have already effectively employed this approach in some areas of research. Namely, by utilizing the limited support from national grants and through informal collaboration with international research groups, we have already secured funding through several EU FP6/FP7 grants, NIH grants and through bilateral grants between Croatia and other countries. We would like to extend our efforts in basic biomedical research areas to encourage the development of more clinically oriented research fields. The immediate goal of the planned activities is to synchronize the training of investigators with the efforts underway to upgrade and establish research facilities to be used by several research groups and departments working in the field of cancer, immunology, transplantation, as well as viral and microbial diseases. The work planned under several work packages based on specific training activities, as well as the specific instruments to be acquired, is aimed at further improvement of our capacities and competence to serve as partners both in basic and translational biomedical research.
TransMedRi will contribute to regional development through:
- Raising the competitiveness of the human research potential in the region;
- Contribution to development of the European Research Area as a whole;
- Strengthening the dissemination of the scientific information and research results;
- Facilitation of the communication on the regional and European levels.
